How To Do Professional Picture Framing?

Getting a frame from the shop becomes quite expensive as for mounting a small-sized frame they charge a lot. Moreover, sometimes we pick a frame that lacks personality and elegance.

So, there’s one best option of making the frames on own. Here below we have shared some instructions that you can implement to create your own picture frames at very reasonable costs.

Let’s get started!

1. Think About Stuff Required

To begin making a picture frame, you’ll need to gather the right and required stuff. Get some wood with a rabbet cut on its any of the one edge. But the concept of a wooden rabbet is optional and up to your choice. Moreover, it does not matter from where you get the stock, it should be quite wider.

2. Collect Necessary & Optional Tools

All the right tools and equipment should be handy. Collect wood glue, sharp pencil, box saw, and other band clamps. Some tools are optional like screwdriver, knife, and drills. After gathering all the required tools or equipment, it comes to creating a layout. But before heading towards this step, you need to cut the end of woods.

Once you have cut the end, now it's the time to use a combinational square to evaluate and create the frame layout.

3. Assembling

After you have cut all the sides of the square frame, now you need to assemble it and get it trimmed where required. Put all the sides of frames together and match the corners. Confirm that there are no gaps between all the pieces.

However, trimming of the wood is necessary to improve the fit of the corner. With the help of miter saw, you can easily trim the ends or even cut a little bit of stuff using the hand plane to achieve perfection.

4. Gluing & Clamping

Gather your pieces, place them in a tight clamp, and tighten it. Examine if the things fit nicely then glue everything. But make sure you use a generous amount of glue to each corner.

Now after gluing the stuff and drying it, this is the right time to sand it as it will give a professional look. You can pick the sand method of any type like palm sander, hand sanding, and more.

5. Staining & Finishing

After you have done all the hardware mounting and sanding, apply some stain. You can also apply a coating like a varnish as finishing. The benefit is it gets dried quickly. You can also do some acrylic printing on the corner or sides of the frame.

6. Mount Your Picture

Ultimately, it’s the time to mount your picture. Create a sandwich like glass on the top, picture in the middle, and some kind of support to the picture. Now, you are done with creating a classy and professional picture frame that would look quite elegant than those available in the shops and at heavy costs.

So, now you need to follow these instructions to get a professional picture framed and save your money from those heavy expenses that are not worth the money. You can employ the experts of Picture Framing in Central Coast who offer the services at an affordable cost. All the Best!
